HVACD System for Cannabis Cultivation at Scale

Heating, Ventilation, Air conditioning, Dehumidifying

Full Conditioning of Grow Room Air & Moisture Control

A comprehensive evaluation is essential to selecting HVAC systems for grow room applications. Commercial growers must evaluate all aspects, including installation cost, maintenance, and operation, to obtain the actual return on investment. One of the most essential evaluations is how the system will perform in controlled environments for horticulture, where the systems operate well for plant life support rather than comfort cooling.

Altaqua-HVACD-Enengy-Modeling

Altaqua's purpose-built, integrated HVACD systems are made specifically for cannabis cultivation. They are designed to run 24/7 and are equipped with variable-capacity compressors, allowing them to match the load in the grow room more closely. It can control temperature and humidity by precisely varying its sensible and latent removal ratios to match the load. Its special gas reheat coil designs are fully optimized for the efficient moisture removal required to conserve energy consumption, which reuses waste heat from the dehumidification process to prevent the space from being over-cooled. According to the report from Anderson Porter Design, the Integrated HVACD System uses the least energy, 14% less than the ductless split system and 16% less than the VRF Split system.

The stability conferred by an integrated HVACD system leads to significantly improved plant performance, health, yield, and facility. Once the room reaches equilibrium after lights are on/off, temperature varies by less than ±1 degree Fahrenheit, and relative humidity varies by approximately ±2.5 % RH. It is much more stable than the traditional air conditioner and dehumidifier combination, which can only provide temperature stability of ±2.5 degrees F and humidity stability of ± 10% RH

Altaqua HVACD can handle the sensible load and remove moisture without additional dehumidifiers. These units will accept a wide variety of filter types. With fewer moving parts, this option is the least for maintenance and service costs. Furthermore, with the Integrated HVACD system, there are fewer pieces of equipment to control and coordinate, leading to much easier control than the operation of traditional air conditioners and dehumidifier combinations.
